Christ’s followers will often take some key components of their faith and view them as inconceivable. One of these components is the act of forgiveness.

We cannot carry the burdens of failure nor the burdens of success.

The pursuit of external contentment within a world which asks “what have you done for me lately” leaves us exhausted and frustrated.

In the beginning of recovery a sexual addict’s “no” has little to no spiritual muscle strength. He will need accountability partners to help empower his “no.” He will not be perfect as he practices saying no to his flesh. He will need time to grow and mature this muscle. He may never hate his sexual sin but can be empowered to say “no” to it.

The same word that is in the middle of pride is in the middle of sin. That word is “I.”

God does not want a do good checklist. He wants our hearts in the right place.

David had lost the territory of his tongue, lips and mouth to the enemy of his soul. He had used them to manipulate, lie and cover up his sins. He needed that territory back.

We don’t want to hear that Christians struggle with sin. Particularly sexual sin. We want to hear a story of complete deliverance from the effects of past sins.

Our God is the God of restoration and if you humble yourself he too can give you a new song of joy.

David’s sins quenched and grieved the Holy Spirit. Without this guidance he directed his own life and the results were horrendous.

I often joke that I am starting a new organization called Knuckleheads for Christ. I will ask Paul to be the CEO.

Your spiritual battery can only be fixed when the secret sin that drains it is addressed.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us we are temples of his Holy Spirit. Are you ready for your temple to be cleaned?

There are things we can do to block or impede His truth reaching this most intimate part of our being. When we place and protect idols in our life we are blocking his truth through misusing our worship drive.

Several years ago there began a subtle movement to treat the first 3 chapters of Genesis as a fable or myth. This movement appears to have taken root in many Christians and churches today.

Someone once said, you can’t appreciate the sweetness of God’s grace until you taste the bitterness of your sins.

There will be parts of your story which will be always be sad and painful but it doesn’t mean they can’t be redeemed. Your greatest failures can become the greatest testimony of God’s redemptive work.

David knew he needed to be cleaned in order to reconcile with God. He just didn’t know that the Cleaner was going to be his great grandson.

Fear tells you that you will lose everything if your secret sexual sin is exposed. The truth is you will gain everything by finding true intimacy with God and others.

If the statistics regarding pornography use in the church are anywhere close to accurate then a storm is coming.
