Influencer
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.
According to Google, an influencer is a digital creator who builds a dedicated online audience on various platforms and uses their credibility to shape the opinions, behavior, and purchases decisions of their followers. The previous definition is neither positive or negative regarding the role or actions of an influencer but I’m a tad bit frightened and secondly I have questions. The top influencer in various platforms, is a soccer player who has 946 million followers. I don’t know this person and can bet all 946 million of his followers do not know him either. But they are a dedicated audience whose opinions and behavior are influenced by a man who kicks a ball for a living. The rest of the top 5 are either athletes, actors and someone called The Beast. How did people who play games and those who pretend to be someone else for a living gain credibility? I guess the Bible is correct in describing us as sheep who are easily lead astray.
The first influencer didn’t need the digital world to shape the opinion, behavior and purchases of his followers. Satan in the form of a very beautiful serpent and with cunning salesmanship skills shaped Eve’s opinion, behavior and she bought his lie. Who is the influencer in your life? Is their credibility based upon outward appearance, articulation or performance skills? If that is the case then they might be following the pattern of the first one who sold Eve some bad advice. In 1975, Sony created the Betamax video recorder and player. During the 1970’s 8 track audio tapes were all the rage. These fad devices went the way of the dinosaur years ago. The only influencer who has eternal credibility and should shape your opinion, behavior and purchases is Jesus. All other opinions are like the quadraphonic 8 track tape player sitting in my attic. They are useless and will fade away.
