Are you prepared?

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Evidently there was a TV show called Doomsday Preppers. I’ve never viewed this program but from what I gather it is about people who go to extreme measures in preparing for the collapse of our society. Recently, in my area, we have experienced severe damage from high winds, tornadoes and flooding. These occurrences usually result in long periods of no electricity. If your water comes from a well then this will include loss of water and the ability to bath or flush your commode. Your neighbors who prepared for this brief doomsday by purchasing a generator months in advance are now the smartest people you know.

There is a another doomsday scenario which is subtler in it’s application than 100 mile an hour winds and flash floods. Just as with the loss of electricity this machine of destruction effects the power supply given to the church. It cuts off the living water of God’s truth, stinks like an unflushed toilet and keeps Christ’s followers in the dark. It is called pornography. In many cases, when someone’s sexual sin is exposed the church is unprepared and delayed in its assistance for this fallen brother or sister. Just as your neighbor with the generator, we need to be prepared and ready. Let me give you a real life example. One of the leaders of your church has been caught viewing pornography by his wife. When he meets with the senior pastor he discloses this has been a struggle since he was a teenager. What do you do? He needs help and timing is crucial in getting him a message of hope.
